The Huntik Wiki strives to be objective and factual and to avoid fanon and fan-based classifications. However, most spells are classified by non-arbitrary, fan-based divisions. There's also a lot of speculation involved in the current classification scheme.

Normally, overhauling a whole section of the wiki would be fairly painstaking, but we may be able to do so more smoothly with the use of a bot account (all to say, it has been my attention to look into this for a while).

Class

Currently, spells are classified into General, Defensive, Offensive, Illusion, Medical, Mental, Summoning, and Support. However, none of this classification is used in-series, and several divisions aren't clear. For instance, Boltflare can be used offensively but isn't always. Also, what distinguishes a spell as General versus Support? And are some Illusion spells also Mental spells?

While some of these divisions are useful, we really need to re-evaluate the current scheme as well as names. For instance, Healing would make a bit more sense than Medical, and Support needs to indicate that they're power-ups. We also might want to look into subdividing Offensive and including the likes of Projectile and Fist.

Range

Range classifications are purely arbitrary. We really know nothing about spell ranges as there's no official data on this. Also, there's no standard to divide them. For instance, how far does a spell have to reach to be considered long range? Do mind-based spells used via Tome count as long range or not? I'd propose that we just get rid of the Range classification in favor of the subdivisions mentioned above (i.e. Projectile, Fist, etc.)

Aura

One thing not covered in the current template is the aura color. With very few exceptions, almost all spells have a distinct aura or energy color. This would be a very useful classification as identifying unnamed spells in episodes normally relies upon aura color.

Element

Just to clarify, there is no elemental classification used in Huntik material, and too many spells (i.e. Powerscan, Doublespell, and Ropetrick) cannot be classified into objective elements. This will not be implemented, period.

Other

If there's anything else that I didn't mention that you think should be considered in renovating the {{
Infobox spell}} template, feel free to bring it up for discussion. Please also feel free to include your opinion on the proposition.
